If you are in Tobago between March and June this is considered prime turtle watching season when if you are lucky you might witness a leatherback or hawksbill turtle coming ashore to lay their eggs returning to the beach where they were born.⠀
⠀
The hatchling photographed is a leatherback turtle, once the eggs have been laid it takes 60 days for the turtle hatchlings to appear and make their way to the bright light of the ocean.⠀
⠀
A fully grown leatherback turtle can weigh as much as 2000 lbs, the female will make her way ashore several times during nesting season to lay her eggs, the males never return to shore. It is thought that only one in 1,000 hatchlings will make it to maturity.⠀
⠀
Poolside Apartments is ideally located,.about 5-10 minutes drive from all the turtle watching beaches on the west of Tobago including Turtle Beach, Grange Bay, Back Bay.and Grafton Beach.⠀
